Felted Jewellery February 21st (10am - 3pm)

Feltmaking is a fun and sumptuously tactile craft. Anita will teach you techniques of making solid felt forms such as beads, discs, earings, bangles, rings and cords. Students will then be guided into developing their own designs, felting forms together into wonderful felted jewellery pieces and/or little textile sculptures. A wonderful introduction to feltmaking, and the wide range of shapes possible in felt.

Felt a Hat July 4th (10am - 3pm)

You will have a fun day learning the skills of how to make your own unique felted hat. Anita will share with you how to make a pattern for a resist and calculate ‘shrinkage’ for your hat. Learn the resist method of feltmaking, in which students will be working directly from the soft tufts of wool into a beautiful felted hat with your own hands. There is no sewing. This method of making a felted hat is magic!

Felt a Scarf - Nuno Felting October 3rd (10am - 3pm)

You will learn how to make a fine felt scarf that incorporates fabrics into the body of the felt. This is
called Nuno felting. Experiment with felting directly into the body of various fabrics to create unusual textures, rippling and ruching of the fabrics occurs naturally during this process. This is an inspiring day full of colour and texture. Discover how to blend colours in wool together as well as the possibilities of delicate lightweight lace felts. Seen them in the boutiques? Black & Coloured Sheep Festival @ Robertson 5.4.2014

The Illawarra Feltmakers Inc have again been invited to be part of the Black & Coloured Sheep Breeders Annual Wool Festival. This is taking place on Saturday 5th April 2014 at the Robertson School of Arts Hall Illawarra Highway, Robertson.
It opens at 10.00 am and doors close at 2.30pm. Entry is free and tea and coffee etc will be available

As this date clashes with our first meeting day for the month of April, it has been decided that there will be no group meeting at ShellCove on the 5th April.

Instead, we hope you can join us at Robertson where we will be doing the usual felt ball making demonstrations and assisting with the fashion parade and generally doing our bit to help promote wool and its great uses.

A wonderful showcase our work will be available to view or buy.

This is a chance to purchase fleece, wool and woollen products as well as spinning and weaving supplies. There will also be the opportunity to join in the speed knitting competitions and view demonstrations.
