FELTMAKING - BEGINNERS’ WORKSHOPS FOR 2020
THE WORKSHOP FOR 2ND MAY HAS BEEN DEFERRED INDEFINITELY DUE TO THE RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED IN RELATION TO COVID 19
Beginners’ Workshops for 2020 will be held on 7thMarch, 2nd May and 1stAugust

Costis $80.00 and includes all materials and a felting kit to keep. 
Venue: North Kiama Neighbourhood Centre; 28 Meehan Dr, Kiama Downs. NSW

Time: 9.45am to 2.45pm. Bring lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.

This workshop is being run in conjunction with The Illawarra Feltmakers Inc

Over the course of the day you will learn how to lay out fleece, the felting process and how to recognise when your felt is fully felted. You will also learn how to incorporate textural materials such as fabric and threads. We will also touch on the use of resists to create a seamless hollow. 

All materials will be supplied and will include everything you need to start on this wonderfully creative adventure. You will also receive comprehensive notes to take home along with your finished pieces. 
Felt is a versatile textile and is not confined to clothing, accessories or industrial purposes. Its sculptural qualities, along with your imagination, will allow your creative potential full reign.

INTRODUCTION TO FELTMAKING
          
            Saturday 3rd November 2018   (10am - 3pm)
You will learn essential skills in the ancient craft of feltmaking. The class begins with making a small flat felt piece that incorporates textural materials like fabric and lace.
This will be followed with learning how to use a resist between the layers of wool in order to create a seamless hollow vessel.
Anita will share with you how to make a pattern for a resist. You will be amazed at the feltmaking process, and the potential it holds for creative adventures.

    part of the flock at the Muster; Live sheep cannot be accepted due to
    quarantine regulations;
  • Maximum overall size for individual entries: 30 cm x 30 cm x
    30 cm; Maximum overall size for group entries: 60 cm x 60 cm
    x 60 cm;
  • Any technique (e.g knitting, weaving ,felt, crochet) using a minimum of
    50% wool (not acrylic yarn) or natural fibres;
  • Limit of one entry per person or per group;

2016 Exhibition

Reflections Exhibition

An exhibition  showcasing artworks using felt as the primary medium. Come along & be  introduced  to the wonderful world of felt

Reflections conjures up images of sound, light, heat, colour, movement, water, mirrors, shimmering and glitz as well as more abstract ideas. It can also encompass thoughtfulness, meditation, reconsideration, resonance, perception, observation, reflections of a journey, life, holidays.

Martien van Zuilen’s workshop




The Illawarra Feltmakers Inc has invited Martien  to conduct a workshop in felted jewellery making. The details are as follows:

Jewellery Adorned –Felt Sculpture on a Precious Scale Workshop with Martien van Zuilen – 16th & 17th May 2015

This workshop is for those with intermediate to advanced skills. Cost is $250.00.

A deposit of $100.00, payable on submission of the enrolment form, will secure your place. The balance will be due 9th May 2015. How to pay options are noted on the enrolment form. Bookings are strictly on a first come, first served basis and a Waiting List will be maintained if necessary.

Participant numbers are strictly limited to eleven.

The workshop venue is the Shell Cove Community Centre, cnr Southern Cross Boulevard & Hinchenbrook Drive, Shell Cove NSW 2529. The times will be 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday 16th May and 9 am to 3 pm on Sunday 17th May.
